Faraway Town Wins Regional Debate Competition

HILLRIDGE: The Annual Inter-School Debate Competition that was held at Hillridge High School two days ago finally came to a close. The winning team hails from Faraway Town, with Thurwood taking a close second, their winning streak broken. The leader of Faraway Town's team, Henry, was invaluable in taking this win.

Faraway Town was considered a dark horse this year, given the team won Most Improved the year before. Seeing them actually take this win came as a surprise to Thurwood, who had consistently been winning for the previous five years.

We talked to Henry, who had some words for us:

First off, I would like to extend my congratulations to you and your team for winning this year's Debate.

Ah, thank you, haha. It was nothing.

So, what topics did you and your team end up debating about?

There were some hard topics, like what should constitute as free speech, or how much civil liberties are allowed. It was all a bit challenging for us, (laughs) but I'm glad we got through it.

So, how did you feel when the results were announced?

Well, uh, I was rather surprised, to say the least. I didn't expect we would do so well. My team and I tried our best, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Since this is your last year here before going off to college, how do you think Faraway Town's team will do next year?

Ah, you've done your research, huh? Yeah, I'm thinking of studying medicine in the city next year. As for my team, I'm sure a capable leader will emerge from among them to lead next year's team as well. I wish all them the best.

Alright, thanks for speaking with us, Henry. Is there anything else you'd like to tell our readers?

Well, uh, I hope you guys will come watch next year's debate! And come visit Faraway Town too, if you can!
